Barcode scanning in the Zerion platform is a tool you do not want to miss out on! Barcode scanning is one of the most efficient ways to collect data in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Using the built-in integrations for ManateeWorks, Socket Mobile, NODE, SXBlue, and Linea Pro, the Zerion Platform allows field teams to utilize barcode scanning in any environment. Here are four great ways to use the barcode scanning feature:

  • Lookup Data

Imagine scanning a barcode and receiving all relevant information from the device database. This is easily accomplished by using the barcode scanning tools and a lookup table in an offline environment. Learn more about lookup tables here.

  • Scan Drivers Licenses

Capture all of the details about a given license by scanning the 2D barcode using the Zerion drivers license widget. Police departments use this for e-ticketing; marketing groups use it to easily capture lead information. Learn more about the drivers license widget here.

  • Inventory Management

Teams use barcode scanning to check inventory items as they are moved throughout the plant. A quick scan of the barcode and the quantity removed allows for quick and efficient data capture.

  • Badge Scanning

Employees are scanning their badge on every form; sales and marketing teams are scanning visitors badges at trade shows. Using javascript, custom data strings can be parsed into their appropriate fields for better data analysis.

Some other examples of how customers are leveraging barcode scanning in their workflows:

  • NGOs track water wells using the barcode scanner
  • Engineering companies scan field assets to lookup existing information.
  • Agricultural firms are scanning plant barcodes to track progress over time.
  • Public Service officials are using barcode scanners to capture drivers license information.

We use barcode scanning in many projects on a daily basis and there are a ton of great advantages. It is becoming more and more the workflow of choice in many of our projects. If you have any questions or just want to say hi, we would love to hear from you!
