Tetra Tech: iFormBuilder Champion
Our friends at Tetra Tech have become pros at using the Zerion platform! Since forming this partnership in July of 2013, the Tetra Tech team has integrated Zerion into 16 projects in 13 countries.
Tetra Tech has led more than 600 projects around the world, providing integrated multidisciplinary international development services. Today, Tetra Tech utilizes the Zerion platform for multiple data collection, management, and reporting functions in many developing countries, and often challenging environments, around the world. The Zerion platform provides Tetra Tech with the innovative mobile technology needed to consistently monitor and evaluate the success and effectiveness of their projects in real-time.
“Our clients are happy with the quality of work produced using Zerion and are excited about the application of new forms of technology to facilitate evidence-based decision-making on our projects.” –Emiko Guthe, Geospatial Technologies Specialist, Tetra Tech
Tetra Tech’s utilization of the Zerion platform reduces time and resources spent on data collection and allows for better integration of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and spatial data. The team customizes each deployment to meet the unique needs of the local project. Each project is then assigned an individual profile within the Zerion dedicated database to promote local ownership of the technology. Short-term survey deployments have been successful in many connected, urban locations as well as rural, disconnected environments. From these surveys, governments and other key stakeholders are informed about the informal water providers, climate change resiliency, sanitation, knowledge, attitudes, and practices of project participants. Zerion allows project staff to establish a more dynamic system for data collection, management, and results reporting.
Prior to Zerion, Tetra Tech was using traditional data collection methods, like pencil and paper interviewing. This resulted in a significant time gap between data collection and analysis; transcription errors; and a lack of data integration. This conventional system of collecting data, entering the information, and analyzing the results was a lengthy and often complicated process.
Solutions vary based on the specific needs of each project and the context in which the team is working. Here are just a few examples of how Tetra Tech is using Zerion:
- Conduct geo-referenced surveys and measure the impacts of capacity-building activities in Uganda
- Map drinking water sources and determine changes in access to drinking water in Liberia
- Track progress of long-term projects by supporting ongoing data collection in Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Uganda, and Haiti
- Export and integrate data collected on Zerion to Klipfolio and Esri, among others to create dynamic reporting dashboards
Since adopting the Zerion platform, Tetra Tech has improved their their approach to adaptive management and become more efficient at data collection and project monitoring. The quality of survey data has drastically improved; time and resources have been reduced; and local teams have been able to highlight the mobile data collection approach. Internal knowledge about management systems has been improved; databases for tracking success across projects has improved; and teams are able to make real-time evidence-based decisions about their projects.
“Tetra Tech successfully combined their field data collection requirements with Zerion’s features and functionality to capture robust data and maintain data integrity with or without a connection. Their ePORT solution has helped governments better understand how people obtain resources and has resulted in better decision making and significant cost savings for Tetra Tech and their customers. Tetra Tech is a true champion of the Zerion platform.” -Chris Reichart, CBO Zerion Software, Inc.
Tetra Tech is doing great things with the Zerion platform! They have done an incredible job of integrating with the API, visualizing the data using graphics and dashboards, and using the Zerion platform to leverage their field teams’ time and abilities. As recipients of the 2014 Zerion Distinguished Project Award, the Zerion team is proud to have them as a customer.
